Printed equipment for the cockpit of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-5 in 1:32. The dials with a gloss, the other surfaces matte, all of it cut to the space between the side walls of the Hasegawa kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the A-5 version the engine mount was shifted roughly fifteen centimeters forward. An apparent trifle solved two troubles at once: it evened out the position of the center of gravity after the equipment that had been accumulating, and it freed room for the cooling of the BMW 801 radial, whose rear row of cylinders was overheating. The machine was built in series from the spring of 1943 and became the basis for a whole range of conversion sets, from a fighter-bomber through a night variant to a torpedo carrier.
The modeler gets the visible equipment of the space for the pilot in printed form. The dials are covered by a glossy layer while the remaining surfaces stay matte, so a finished cabin does not behave like one continuous sticker. The width of the parts matches the gap between the side walls, and nothing has to be sanded down or shortened.
It is fitted into the fuselage of the kit from Hasegawa while it is apart, before you join the two halves. The plastic is not part of the delivery. It pays to have a wooden toothpick to hand: a soft tip presses a piece into a corner better than a metal point and does not scratch the printing.
The result will be noticed mainly by anyone building with the canopy pushed back or with the side door open. But even on a closed model the depth of the panel shows in a photograph from the side.
Photographs of the day show that the cabin tended to be markedly worn around the control column and at the leading edges of the side walls. After sticking the printed areas on it is therefore worth considering a fine dry brushing of the edges in a lighter shade, which will give the interior the marks of everyday service.
