This set from MH models is a painting mask intended for 1:32 scale. It replaces decals with markings: you lay the self-adhesive mask on a varnished model, spray over it with a contrasting color and once it is removed the insignia is left painted in the finish. Neither the aircraft model nor the paints are part of the delivery, as this is purely an accessory.
The Gloster Gladiator Mk.II was the last British biplane fighter in regular service. It combined classic construction with an enclosed cockpit and a Bristol Mercury radial engine; the landing gear remained fixed. Compared with the earlier machines the Mk.II version brought above all a different power plant. The aircraft was known for good agility, even though the incoming monoplanes soon surpassed it in both speed and armament.
With masks for markings the order of the layers matters more than with anything else. The procedure is always the same: finish the camouflage first, let it dry properly and coat it with gloss or satin varnish. A smooth surface is the key, because on a rough matte layer paint will run under the edge of the mask however well you press it down. Only then apply the masks and spray the color of the markings, in several really thin coats, so that no step forms at the edge. When a marking lies across two different camouflage colors, the shade inside the insignia may differ, and in that case lay a thin coat of opaque color underneath and only spray the final tone on top of it. Finally you even everything out with matte varnish.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. Paints, varnishes and the model itself are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
