Replacement exhaust nozzles in the open position for the Grumman F-14A Tomcat model in 1:32 scale. They replace the simplified kit parts and sharpen the most conspicuous spot on the tail.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14A Tomcat is a two-seat carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing. The rear of the fuselage closes with a pair of movable exhaust nozzles whose cross-section changes with the engine setting. On plastic kits this area tends to be simplified: the petals are thick and the interior shallow, so it shows on a finished model at first glance.
Replacement exhaust nozzles in the open position, that is with the petals spread, for the F-14A model in 1:32 scale. The parts replace the original kit components and bring thinner walls, sharper edges and a deeper interior. The fit for a particular kit and the extent of any modification are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are not polystyrene, so glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with two-part epoxy. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully so that you do not damage the thin edges. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting and let them dry, otherwise the primer will not take. The inside of the nozzles is easier to paint before you glue them into the fuselage; apply metallic shades and heat staining in thin coats.
The set suits modelers who want to sharpen the tail and do not mind swapping parts. The work is not difficult, but it needs accurate sanding of the seating and patience while gluing. The box holds only the parts listed; the model, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
