A figure of the German fighter pilot Hans Joachim Marseille in 1:32 scale, intended for aircraft models and for a display case.
Responsibility details are not available.
Hans Joachim Marseille was a German fighter pilot of the Second World War who became famous for his service in North Africa. He flew Messerschmitt Bf 109s, and his name is so closely bound up with the fighting over the desert that it appears in practically every survey of the air battles there. For modelers he is also interesting for the way flying clothing looked in the desert: the combination of a light outfit, a life vest and a cloth head covering differed markedly from the European standard.
With aircraft models, 1:32 is one of the large scales; the figure of an adult man comes out at roughly five and a half centimeters in it. On an area like that the face can be shaded, cloth can be told apart from leather and even the fine straps and harness can be picked out. A figure set beside a model gives the aircraft scale and the display case a story, because an empty area next to a machine always looks incomplete.
Wash and degrease the figure before painting; on a greasy surface paint does not hold. Build the skin in coats from a darker base to lighter highlights and leave the eyes to the end. Do not mix the light desert outfit as pure white; a small admixture of ocher or gray gives it credibility and shadow then carries in it better. Leather and rubber parts hold their look better in a semi-gloss than in a matte. The particular procedure for preparing the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
For builders of German fighters in 1:32 scale and for collectors of figures for a display case. The aircraft model, the paints and a plinth are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
