A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:32 scale intended for a plastic kit of the British fighter aircraft Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc. It is the ninth part of the series that Art Scale devotes to the machines of the Royal Air Force deployed in Burma. The set by itself is not a kit or a finished model: it is an accessory with markings that you apply to a model built and painted to your own choice.
The Hurricane Mk.IIc was the cannon-armed version of the Hurricane. Compared with the older machine-gun machines it carried four twenty-millimeter Hispano cannon in the wings and was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine. In this form the Hurricane also served in the Far Eastern theater, where as a day fighter it was already giving way to more modern types, but it proved itself in the strike role and as a machine able to operate from simple field strips. The color schemes of the aircraft from this area differ from the European ones both in the shades of the camouflage and in the rendering of the national insignia, so they offer a model that will not blend in with the others in a display case.
Always apply the decals onto a smooth glossy base: under a matte varnish air stays between the film and the surface and a silvered edge arises around the motif. Cut the motif out as closely as possible, immerse it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and leave it to rest on its paper until it starts to slide freely. On broken surfaces and across engraved lines a decal softener helps. Once it is seated, soak the excess water up carefully with a soft cloth, and once dry varnish the model with a matte or semi-gloss clear coat, which will hide the edge of the film completely.
