A set of stencils for the tropical finish of the Hawker Hurricane Mk I fighter in a large scale. It offers covering for the cockpit frames from the face and the back, three pieces for the national insignia and a sheet of decals to complete the markings.
Responsibility details are not available.
The tropical modification gave a Hurricane away at first glance by the bulky Vokes filter housing under the nose. It protected the carburetor from sand, at the cost of a loss of speed and of rate of climb. Machines in this form defended Malta, covered the convoys to Tobruk and worked over the Libyan desert. The fuselage with fabric covering on the rear part also behaved differently in heat and sand from an all-metal structure, which added work for the mechanics.
The framing of the canopy is dealt with on both sides, three stencils prepare the national insignia and a sheet of decals completes the rest. The set thus covers the builder's usual needs from the cockpit to the markings.
If after lifting the film you discover an unwanted run of paint on the glass, do not reach straight for thinner. The best tool is a wooden toothpick cut to a wedge, with which the dried layer is pushed off the glass without a scratch. A cotton bud lightly moistened in water with a drop of detergent cleans up the rest. Only when even that does not help does it come to carefully going over the frame with a thin brush exactly to the width of the pattern. Thinner for acrylic paints fogs the glass and that is damage nothing will put right.
