A set of resin landing gear wheels for a model of the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 fighter in 1:32 scale, completed by die-cut paint masks. The accessory from the Czech firm Aires replaces the wheels from the basic kit with more detailed castings, and thanks to the masks it makes the clean separation of the hub and tire colors markedly easier. It is not a model in its own right - it is an accessory for a separately sold kit.
The Polikarpov I-16 was a Soviet single-engine low-wing fighter of the 1930s, one of the first production monoplanes in the world with retractable landing gear. It made its combat debut in the Spanish Civil War, fought at Khalkhin Gol and in the first years of the Great Patriotic War, where it bore the main weight of the air fighting until more modern types replaced it.
Wash the resin castings in soapy water, cut off the casting blocks and sand the mark down; protect your airways while sanding. Glue the wheels with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Spray the color of the tires first, then lay the mask on and spray the hubs - the boundary between the colors will stay perfectly crisp. A fine dust pigment on the tread will give the wheels an in-service look.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The basic aircraft kit is not included in the package.
