1:32 Italian smoke rings camouflage is an Eduard decal sheet for reproducing the Italian ring camouflage on a model in 1:32 scale. It is not a model, nor paints.
Responsibility details are not available.
Ring camouflage, known in modeling slang as smoke rings, is among the hardest patterns to lay on a model with an airbrush. The rings have sharp edges, a regular size and an irregular distribution, which is essentially an unreachable combination for an airbrush. This decal sheet solves the pattern another way: the rings are transferred onto the model as decals, so both masking and laborious spraying fall away. These are decals, not paint and not a kit; the box contains neither the model nor any clear coat.
The pattern matches the camouflage used on Italian aircraft of the Second World War period, where irregular rings were laid over a base shade. The exact size and density of the rings differed from machine to machine according to the factory, so it pays to compare the result with a period photograph of the particular aircraft. The sheet is in 1:32 scale, that is, for large models, where the pattern shows best. The decals can be used on various types of aircraft, and the only limit is the area the sheet will cover.
The base must be smooth and glossy, otherwise silvering will appear under the decal. Spray a gloss clear coat compatible with the paint used before applying them. Dip the decal briefly in lukewarm water, slide it onto the wetted spot and fine-tune its position with a soft brush. On rivets and engraved lines a decal softener helps. Once dry, clear-coat over them so that the edges of the carrier film disappear, and unify the whole surface with a matte or satin clear coat. Work in smaller areas and watch that the pattern continues across the panel lines.
These are decals, not a model, paint or clear coat. The model and painting materials are not included in the package.
