Masking film for the extensive glazing of the Junkers Ju 88A-4 bomber in 1:32, cut for the Revell model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ju 88 came about as a fast bomber, but during the war it became an all-purpose machine for dive attack, reconnaissance and night fighting. The A-4 variant is regarded as the best balanced form of the bomber branch: it received Jumo 211J engines, lengthened wings with increased span, strengthened landing gear legs and better defensive positions. The four-man crew sat together in the glazed forward section, which German airmen nicknamed after a beetle because of its shape. It is that glazing that makes a model in a large scale a real test of patience.
The forward cockpit of the Ju 88 has dozens of irregular panes and a great many of them are bent by the rounded shape of the glass. Pre-cut masks remove that problem: you lay them on, press them down and spray. The package covers the outer as well as the inner face, so the frame can be in the cockpit color inside and in camouflage outside.
The time saved is not the only advantage. A sharp transition between the glass and the frame looks more convincing than a line drawn freehand, and on a model of this size everyone notices it at first glance. The film also protects the transparent areas from being fogged by paint.
This item includes no insignia and no decals, as it is aimed at the glass exclusively.
