A set of covering films for the cockpit and the side fuselage windows of the Junkers Ju 88 A-4 in the large 1:32 scale, cut to the shape of the moldings from Revell.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-4 variant came as an answer to the experience of the first years of the war. The Junkers received a greater span, more powerful Jumo engines and strengthened defensive armament, because the idea of an uncatchable fast bomber did not hold up in combat. It stayed in production longer than any other bomber form of the type and flew over the Soviet Union, over the Mediterranean and over Malta.
The covering does not concern only the cockpit but the windows in the sides of the fuselage as well, and that matters with this machine: there are more glazed areas than it seems at first glance, and hand work with tape on them takes hours. The films are cut to the outer outline of the frame and hold on the carrier sheet until the moment of use.
Experience says it pays to prepare a surface with a damp cloth beside the model. A film that twists onto itself while being lifted will spread back out on a smooth wet surface and can be picked up again. Without that, small pieces end up in the trash more often than a builder would expect, and there are no spares in the package.
This form appeared with the units in many liveries according to the theater. Machines over North Africa wore sand shades with a light underside, while night variants had a dark coat with subdued national insignia. Covered glazing lets you change the camouflage without worrying about damaging the transparency of the parts.
