The set from the Reskit brand contains a pair of 3D printed M-118 bombs in 1:32 scale. It serves to complete the external armament of a finished aircraft model, specifically of the F-105, F-100 and F-4 types given with the set. On bodies like these, printing on a 3D printer holds a clean shape of revolution with no mold parting line and manages even the thin surfaces of the fins, which with injection-molded plastic are usually thicker than they should be.
The M-118 is an American heavy all-metal general-purpose bomb belonging to the weight category around three thousand pounds. It was used during the war in Southeast Asia against hardened ground targets. On models it appears under the wings and on the fuselage pylons of strike machines, on which it was among the heaviest munitions carried.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, so that no residues of printing resin stay on the surface, otherwise primer would hold less well. Cut the print supports off with a saw or a cutter and level the mark with wet abrasive paper, with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue. In painting, a basic olive tone with the bands marked on the body of the bomb works well; small differences between the individual pieces liven up a load of stores more than a perfectly uniform coat.
