Photo-etched detail set in 1:32 scale for the Italian Macchi MC.205 Veltro fighter, intended for finishing a kit with fine metal elements.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Macchi MC.205 Veltro was among the best Italian fighters of the Second World War. It followed on from the older Folgore and received a stronger liquid-cooled inverted V12, a license version of the German DB 605 engine. The result was a slender machine with a narrow nose and a small cockpit, which in 1:32 scale stands out precisely through its details.
The set is made up of photo-etched parts, that is of elements etched out of thin metal sheet. Photo-etch achieves a thinness and crispness that injection-molded plastic cannot match, which is why it is used to replace or supplement small parts of the interior and of the airframe surface. The elements are designed for a particular kit in 1:32 scale; which one is given in the manufacturer's instructions for the set, so check it before buying.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and never break them off with your fingers. Make the bends in a bender or between two blades so that the edges are straight and crisp. They are bonded with super glue applied in a tiny amount; on larger areas two-part epoxy holds better and also gives time to seat the part. Degrease the metal before painting and spray a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will rub off during handling.
For modelers who want to take a large kit all the way into detail and are not afraid of working with tweezers and a magnifier.
The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
