Lewis machine gun, pattern B, 1:32 from Plusmodel: a cast weapon for aircraft models and figures.
Responsibility details are not available.
A cast model of the Lewis machine gun in 1:32 scale, in the form the manufacturer marks as pattern B. It is an accessory, not a kit: it replaces a simplified weapon on an aircraft model, rounds out an observer's armament or is added to a figure. The manufacturer releases both forms alongside each other, so you can pick the one that matches your machine from period photographs.
The Lewis was a light machine gun with a pan magazine fitted on top, gas-operated and air-cooled. It served the infantry and airmen alike and was used long after the First World War. The weapon went through modifications that concerned mainly the cooling jacket, the mounting and the magazine, and those differences are exactly why the manufacturer offers more than one form.
First wash the part in lukewarm soapy water so that traces of mold release agent disappear. Separate the casting from the casting block with a sharp knife or a saw, not with nippers, which would crush the thin sections. It is glued with cyanoacrylate. Lay down a primer before painting. The weapon suits a dark metal shade, a dark seeping coat in the recesses and light edge highlighting with a dry brush. Leave the pan magazine noticeably lighter than the rest; in photographs it stands apart.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and it is an accessory, not a kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
