A specialized photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, aimed at the landing flaps of the Italian Macchi MC.202 Folgore fighter in 1:32 scale. For production reasons the plastic flaps in a kit tend to be thick and without internal structure; the metal replacement makes it possible to show their true thickness and their ribbing, and it offers the option of building the flaps lowered, which gives a model on a base a sense of movement. It is a full photo-etched set, not a selection for the cockpit. The detailed contents of the sheet are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Lowered flaps belong to a parked aircraft, to an aircraft being prepared for takeoff and to the landing configuration at an air base. That is exactly why they are one of the most striking details by which a model stands out from a build straight out of the box. On the Folgore, that is on an aerodynamically clean fighter with a slender wing, the difference between a thick plastic part and a thin metal one is particularly easy to see.
Count on this set being one of the more demanding ones, because besides gluing it also calls for cutting into the plastic. Cut the original flaps off with a saw and clean the cut up with a file, and only then try the metal parts dry. Make the bends in a bending tool along the whole length of the edge, not in sections. Bond with super glue; for long joints choose a thicker variant with a longer setting time, so that you have time to align them. Degrease the finished parts, apply a primer meant for metal and only then paint. Do not forget to paint the inner faces of the flaps before you attach them.
