Full-color pilot belt equipment for the large model of the Gustav series Messerschmitt in 1:32 scale, prepared for the Revell cockpit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The G-2 version reached the combat units during 1942 and brought the DB 605A engine, which gave the fighter noticeably more power at greater altitudes. The G-4 that followed differed little on the outside, and the difference lay mainly in the fitting of a radio navigation receiver and in the wider wheels, on account of which the characteristic bulges had to grow on the wings. Both types saw the hardest period of the Eastern Front as well as the fighting over North Africa and the Mediterranean, where pilots flew them from improvised field strips. The cockpit stayed cramped, and in 1:32 scale it really can be seen into well.
The straps are printed straight away in the color of the webbing and of the metal buckles and have a perceptible thickness, so once laid into the seat they do not look like a painted stripe. The shape memory of the material is low, which means that the belt can be led over the edge of the tub and under the headrest and will stay where you put it. The dimensions come from the large Revell cockpit given in the name.
Varnish the seat and the armored headrest and let them mature overnight, otherwise the softener in the water will eat its way into fresh paint. Separate the strap from its backing in lukewarm water, lay it in place and press it down with a cotton swab; draw the excess water off away from the fold. Bend the loose ends while the material is still supple, because once dry it holds firmly and cannot be talked round. You can perfectly well close the cockpit the next day, because haste shows on a finished model.
