Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 instrument panels in 1:32 scale from Red Fox Studio bring the cockpit of a large model to life with panels carrying faithfully rendered dials.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from Red Fox Studio replaces the flat areas of the cockpit of the large Friedrich with a rendering of the instruments and controls. It is applied like a decal on a carrier film, so the result looks three-dimensional even without laborious picking out of the individual dials with a brush. It is not an aircraft kit but equipment for the cockpit. The panels are cut for the Trumpeter model, because the brand also prepares the same set for the Hasegawa kit.
The Bf 109 F of 1941 received rounded wingtips, a deeper engine cowling and a retractable tailwheel. The F-4 rendition relied on the DB 601E powerplant and on gun armament concentrated on the fuselage centerline: a cannon firing through the hollow propeller shaft was complemented by two machine guns above the engine. Pilots liked the Friedrich for its balanced handling, and many considered it the aerodynamically cleanest machine of the whole family. It was exactly this one that the most successful German fighter pilots flew in the spring of 1942 over the Channel and over the Mediterranean.
Before starting, level the surface of the panel, carefully sand off the molded dials and degrease the surface. Set the panel on a smooth base, press it down with a soft bristle and let it dry thoroughly before you close the cockpit. The sharp edges of the bezels will stand out after a matte overcoat has dried.
