A masking set of kabuki tape in 1:32 scale for a model of the Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1 and A-2. The elements are pre-cut to shape and are stuck on before spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Me 262 was a German jet fighter from the end of the Second World War and the first production machine of its kind. Its recognition features are the swept wings and the pair of jet engines in nacelles beneath them. The A-1 version was the fighter, the A-2 version was adapted to carry bombs. The set covers both designations given in the name.
The masking elements are cut from kabuki tape, that is from a thin paper material that adapts well to curves, holds all around its edge and does not pull the paint off when it is lifted. Compared with ordinary adhesive tape that is a substantial difference. The EXPERT designation belongs to the range in which the set appears. Check the extent of the set and the kit it is cut for in the maker's description, because the shape of the canopy frames differs from kit to kit.
Wash and degrease the surface before masking. Lift the element off the backing with pointed tweezers, lay it down and press it, above all around the edge; an edge that is not seated is the one place where paint creeps under. On the curved canopy it helps to warm the mask slightly and press it on so that it hugs the curve. Spray in thin coats and lift the mask off as soon as the paint has flashed off. On a fully cured finish the edge tends to peel away with the tape.
The kit, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
