It is not a kit of the aircraft but a resin accessory to go with it, intended for more experienced modelers. It replaces the exhaust nozzle of the engine, that is the place injection-molded plastic can never render satisfactorily: the thin petals of the nozzle, their inner and outer sides and the depth of the duct behind them. This variant is made in the open position, which corresponds to the engine running with the afterburner; the maker also offers a variant with the nozzle closed for an aircraft standing with the engine shut down.
The MiG-21MF, in the NATO reporting name Fishbed J, is one of the most widespread versions of this single-engine supersonic fighter with a delta wing. Characteristic of it is the combination of a slender fuselage with a circular nose air intake and a movable shock cone. The engine with the afterburner ends in a variable exhaust nozzle whose cross section changes according to the flight regime - that is exactly why the nozzle looks different in flight and on the ground, and why it makes sense to choose between the open and the closed version according to the scene you are building.
First wash the resin parts in warm soapy water, so that the remains of the mold release agent are removed - otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, not by nipping, and sanding needs protection of the airways; do not breathe in resin dust and rather sand wet. Glue with cyanoacrylate, as an ordinary cement for polystyrene will not bond resin. Apply a primer before painting. The nozzle can take a marked metallic transition: a lighter shade at the front, darkening and heat tints toward the mouth. Leave the inside the darkest, so that it looks deep, and suggest the edges of the petals with a dry brush.
The accessory is supplied unpainted as a resin casting. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
