The second scene from the series of figures for the MJ-1 munitions loader in the MJ-1C version. The set from the Reskit brand in 1:32 scale comprises a driver and members of an airman crew, and its subject falls within the modern period.
Ground crew tends to be overlooked on models of aviation for a long time, and yet it is only they who give a machine sense and scale. The MJ-1 loader, called the Jammer in service, belongs among the equipment at which several people always move at once: one operates the lifting mechanism, the others steer the load to the pylon. Scene 2 is offered separately alongside scene 1, so you can choose one situation, or build both side by side and thereby widen the action at the air base.
The coveralls of the ground personnel are never new: break the basic tone up, therefore, with a lighter dry brush on the bends and a darker wash in the folds. The gloves, the hearing protectors and the safety goggles have a different surface and a different gloss. Stains of oil look convincing when they are small and irregular, not spilled over the whole area. The last touch is taken care of by a matte varnish, under which the differences in surface settle into a single whole.
The set is unpainted and its final look is up to the modeler.
