What the set offers

The set brings seat belts for the ejection seat designated Mk.7 in 1:32 scale. Seats of this family were carried by a whole range of Western military aircraft, so the accessory comes into its own on several types; which one exactly you have in your kit, check in the references for your own machine.

Why it pays off

The straps are the first thing a viewer registers on a seat in an open cockpit. In the large 1:32 scale the molded relief of belts suggested directly on the shell is conspicuously thick, whereas separate elements can be bent, hung over the side panels and draped the way the pilot left them when he got out.

Building tips

Paint the seat first and let it dry, and fit the belts only at the end. Before applying, check in the manufacturer's instructions whether the elements are applied dry or soaked in water; the procedure differs between renditions. Work with fine-tipped tweezers, shape the bends over a wooden stick and let the loose ends fall over the edge of the pan. Do not lead the belts taut like a string, as a slight sag reads more naturally than a straight line.
