An accessory set of covers for the intake openings for models of the P-40 Warhawk fighter in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was an American single-engine fighter of the Second World War period, committed on most of the fronts and used by the air forces of Allied states as well. On a parked machine the intake and cooling openings were covered with covers, so that dirt, sand or small objects did not get inside; the English abbreviation FOD, which the name of the set uses, designates exactly that kind of foreign object damage.
Covers for the intake openings for models of the P-40 in 1:32 scale. They are intended for models built as a parked machine, that is for scenes from the ground support, an airfield or maintenance. Which openings the set covers, how many parts it has and which kit it is intended for are given by the maker's instructions.
The parts are not polystyrene, so cement for polystyrene does not work on them; they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, because otherwise the paint will grip badly. The covers are painted separately from the airframe, because on the real aircraft they tended to be of a different material from the skin and differed from it in shade. They are fitted only onto a finished and painted model, so that they can be taken off at any time and the model can be photographed without them too.
The set suits modelers who are building a P-40 in 1:32 scale and want to complete the model with the equipment of the ground crew, and builders of dioramas with an aircraft on the ramp.
A kit, paints and glue are not part of the supply, unless stated otherwise.
