This item is not a kit but an add-on to a model. It is a set of pre-colored 3D decals of the SPACE line from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, intended for the Curtiss P-40B in 1:32 scale. The elements are printed on decal film and are lifted with tweezers off moistened backing paper; thanks to the layered printing they have an apparent depth, so the instruments, the placards and the control panels look three-dimensional on the model.
The procedure differs from conventional decals and the greatest emphasis falls on the surface. Spray the area the element will go onto in the base shade and let it cure perfectly. It has to be smooth, clean and degreased. Moisten only the backing paper with a sponge and a drop of detergent, lift the element off with tweezers and set it in place. It is fixed with white dispersion glue; the manufacturer does not recommend super glue, and a decal softener must not be used: its chemistry will attack the printed resin and spoil the element. Once dry, go over it with flat or semi-flat varnish, depending on how the interior is meant to look.
The Curtiss P-40B was an American single-engine fighter with a liquid-cooled V12 engine that appeared shortly before the United States entered the war. Its identifying features are the low-set radiator intake under the nose and the cockpit with a high rear fuselage spine. The cockpit has a prominent instrument panel and side walls with a number of small features, on which 3D decals show to greatest effect.
The package contains decals only. The model, paints and clear coat are not part of it.
