Painting masks for spraying Chinese Air Force insignia onto a model of the Polikarpov I-153 in 1:32 scale, worked out for the kit from ICM.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Polikarpov I-153 is a Soviet single-seat biplane fighter of the 1930s and one of the last machines of its kind to be built in series. You will recognize it by the gulled upper wing, which earned it the nickname Chaika, and by the retractable landing gear, which was not usual on a biplane. This set is aimed at machines in Chinese Air Force markings, that is, at a form other than the one the type is most often built in.
A sprayed insignia is part of the finish. It has no clear carrier film underneath, so its edge does not shine once dry and does not form a step. On a biplane, where the markings run across covering with suggested ribs, that difference shows most of all.
Apply them to a matured base coat before spraying the insignia, onto a clean and degreased surface. Press the edges down all the way around so that paint does not run underneath, and spray thinly in several passes: one heavy coat gets under the edge more easily and leaves a ridge you can feel. On a multicolor insignia keep to the order of the layers and let each one dry. Lift the template off while the finish is freshly dry and pull it at an angle across the edge rather than straight upward.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
