A pair of wheel chocks for British shore bases in 1:32 scale will bring the standing area beside a model of an RAF or Fleet Air Arm aircraft to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pair of wheel chocks in the rendition that British squadrons used at shore bases from the war years right through to postwar operations. The printed parts from the AIMS brand are prepared for the large scale, where small ground gear around a model does not lose its effect.
On the grass surfaces of southern England and on the concrete standings of coastal stations they belonged to the basic gear of the mechanics. They were laid under as soon as the machine stopped, so that the aircraft would not start moving during an engine run, while being filled with fuel or when the wind leaned into the surfaces. Units of the Fleet Air Arm operating from land went about it the same way as RAF squadrons. The pieces traveled around the apron together with the machine and operations scuffed them quickly, which on a model is a rewarding opportunity for a fine patina.
Two pieces are enough to secure one wheel from each side of the landing gear, so the set will serve even with a model displayed without an extensive base. It is rewarding to leave one piece set aside and the other placed under the tire; the scene gains movement from that. Mask the transition between the chock and the base with a fine pigment applied with a soft brush.
There are two chocks in the package. Neither the aircraft model nor material for a base is supplied with them.
