The RF-4C Phantom II is the reconnaissance version of the American two-seat F-4 Phantom II. It is told from the fighter standards above all by the lengthened nose with reconnaissance equipment, but it also has small differences in other places on the airframe, among them on the vertical tail.
The accessory replaces the air intake on the vertical tail in 1:32 scale. It is a small part, but one that is clearly visible on a finished model, because it has a sharper shape and thinner edges than the simplified part from a kit. The exact number of parts and the designation for a particular kit are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The part is not of polystyrene, and glue for plastic does not work on it; use superglue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the mating surface stays flat and the part does not stand off the fuselage anywhere. Before painting, wash the part, degrease it and apply a base coat, otherwise the paint holds badly on a smooth surface. It pays to thin the edges of the intake down, so that they do not come across as thick.
For the modeler who is building a Phantom in 1:32 scale and wants to bring the detail out without interfering with the shape of the fuselage. A single place is fitted, so even a less experienced builder can manage it; tweezers, a sharp blade and fine abrasive paper are needed.
