Injection-molded plastic model of the British single-seat fighter biplane Sopwith Camel F.1 in 1:32 scale from the Academy brand. The kit offers engraved surface detail, a cockpit with a rotary engine and separate control surfaces; as with every biplane, part of the build is the rigging between the wings and the struts.
The Sopwith Camel was one of the most successful British fighters of the First World War. Short, agile and powered by a rotary engine, it was exceptionally nimble, especially in a right turn, which gave experienced pilots an advantage in a turning fight; inexperienced ones, on the other hand, were unpleasantly surprised by its sharp response. Armed with a pair of synchronized machine guns, it went down among the most effective fighters of its day.
On a biplane, assemble and paint the cockpit and the rotary engine before you close the fuselage up. Clean the fine struts and bracing carefully. Glue the plastic parts with a thin modeling cement for plastic, and fill and sand the joints. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting and spray the paints in thin coats with an airbrush. Do the rigging only after painting, using rigging thread; imitate the fabric with glazes and fine washes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
