A large plastic kit of the British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb in its tropical Trop version in the big 1:32 scale from Hobby Boss. The injection-molded model offers engraved panel lines and rivets, a well-equipped cockpit, a complete engine with its firewall, separate access panels, wing armament, separate control surfaces, segmented canopy glazing, rubber tires and photo-etched parts for the harness, the armor and the oil cooler screens. The box allows a choice of the tropical filter with a drop tank or an alternative filter, and of standard or clipped wingtips.
The Supermarine Spitfire is the legendary British fighter of the Second World War with its characteristic elliptical wing. The Mk.V was one of the most widely used versions. The tropical Trop conversion was intended for service in the Mediterranean and North Africa; its hallmark is the large Vokes dust filter under the nose, which protected the engine from sand and dust, together with a larger oil tank and desert equipment behind the pilot seat.
Finish and paint the cockpit and the engine before closing the fuselage, because in this scale they are clearly visible and can be displayed with the panels off. Glue the plastic with liquid cement and keep the fine engraved lines and rivets intact. We recommend a primer, an airbrush and picking out the panels with a wash; the typical desert camouflage schemes stand out with graded shades. Protect the glazing with masks and add the armament and the filter at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
