The Mi-24 was designed as an armored attack machine that brings its troops right to the spot. The Mi-24A version stands at the beginning of the line and still carries the original solution for the cabin: the crew sits under a single large glazed cover, so the machine has quite a different silhouette from the front than the later versions with their stepped stations. The stub wings with their pylons are angled down and in fast flight give the fuselage lift.
Photo-etched metal replaces shapes on a model that plastic cannot make thin enough. Typically these are grilles, loops, buckles, boarding steps, thin trims and flat panels. The Mi-24A has a large area of glazing and side doors, so work on the inside tells even once the model is finished. Which parts the set contains, and where they are fitted, is given in the maker's instructions.
Leave the fret whole until the moment you really need a part; loose parts get lost. Work over a light surface with raised edges and pick the parts up with tweezers with fine jaws. Cut the fret tab through, and never tear it. A part that is to follow a curved surface of the fuselage should be pressed to that shape with a round tool before gluing, so that you do not have to bend it in place. Dose cyanoacrylate glue with the tip of a wire, because any excess floods the fine relief and dulls the surroundings. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a primer intended for metal, or the layer will rub off during handling.
