A set of decals from the maker Red Fox Studio for a model of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory which raises the level of detail of a finished model. The full contents of the set are stated on the box.
The Spitfire Mk.I was the first production form of the aircraft designed by Reginald Mitchell. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin twelve-cylinder engine, and its characteristic elliptical wing carried eight 7.7 mm machine guns in the Mk.Ia version. It was precisely these machines, together with the Hurricanes, that bore the main weight of the defensive fighting over England in the summer and autumn of 1940. The aircraft changed gradually during production: the shape of the canopy, the propeller and the armor all changed, so the early and the later examples of the Mk.I differed noticeably from one another.
