1:32 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V undercarriage bay paint masks is a set of landing gear bay masks for a Spitfire Mk.V model in 1:32 scale. The cut matches the shape of the bay of this version.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set for the landing gear bays, that is for the part of a model that is painted first and yet can be damaged right at the end of the build. The masks keep the painted interior away from the top coat of the lower surfaces.
A landing gear bay is not the same on every version. It differs in the outline of the cutout and in the shape of the surrounding parts, and that is what the mask is cut to. That is why sets for the individual variants cannot be interchanged, even though the subject is still called a Spitfire. This set belongs to the Mk.V version. When a mask fits exactly, you do not have to trim or fold anything while masking and the edge of the paint comes out exactly where you want it.
Let the interior of the bay dry thoroughly, otherwise it will be imprinted into soft paint. Lay the mask on dry, press it down first in the middle and then toward the edges, so that no air is left underneath. Then spray the lower surfaces in thin coats and at reduced pressure, so that the paint does not get under the edge. It is practical to leave the masking in place through any matte varnish and pigments and to uncover the bay only right at the end. If you build several examples, you will appreciate that the result is the same every time.
