An accessory wheel set for models of the fighter Supermarine Spitfire in 1:32 scale from the manufacturer Armory. It replaces the main wheels of the landing gear and brings the pair of features that the designation of the product carries: a tread with linear ribs and a hub with three spokes. The tires are made as weighted, that is with a slight flattening at the point of contact.
The Spitfire was produced for over ten years and in dozens of versions, and the details of the landing gear changed along with it. Smooth and patterned treads appeared in service side by side, as did hubs covered with a full disk and lightened spokes. The combination this set offers is among the more conspicuous ones: the spokes are visible at first sight on a large model and determine the overall impression of the landing gear leg.
It comes out best when you set the tread and the hub apart by shade. Rubber is not hit with pure black but rather with a very dark gray with a trace of brown; the hub tends to be in the color of the underside of the fuselage. A circular mask or a brush with a supported hand will manage the boundary. The flattened patch belongs at the bottom and must be parallel with the base, as otherwise the finished aircraft will stand crooked.
