A set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the fighter Yakovlev Yak-9T in the large 1:32 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for painting: you lay the masks on the clear parts and after spraying the canopy framing stays crisply bounded, without the ragged edges typical of hand-cut tape.
What to expect from the masks
In the large 1:32 scale the glazing is a prominent element of the model and a canopy frame that has not come out well drags down the impression of the whole build. Ready-made masks hold a straight line along the full length of the frame and can be pressed accurately even into rounded corners. At the same time they shorten the least favorite part of the work to a few minutes.
The Yak-9 was the most numerous Soviet fighter of the Second World War. The version designated with the letter T carried a large-caliber cannon mounted in the vee of the engine and firing through the hollow propeller shaft; it was used against ground and air targets alike and pilots valued it for the effect of a single hit. The cockpit has a split canopy with a fixed rear section and a windscreen frame.
Degrease the clear part and handle it only with tweezers. Free the mask from the sheet with the tip of a scalpel, lay it on and press it down with a soft wooden stick, so that the edge adheres all around. Spray several thin coats with an airbrush, because one heavy coat gets under the edge. In practice it works well to lay on the interior shade first, then the base and finally the top coat. Take the masks off shortly after the paint is dry to the touch, and pull them away at an angle rather than straight up.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
