Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set for a model of the Czechoslovak Zlin Z-XII trainer and sports aircraft in 1:72 scale from the MH models brand. It is not a kit and not a part of a model, but an aid for painting: according to the name it is aimed at the cabin glazing, that is the areas which are meant to stay transparent after spraying and to have a sharply bounded frame. The full contents of the package are stated on the box of the set.
The Zlin Z-XII is a two-seat low-wing monoplane of the 1930s with which the Zlin aircraft works addressed flying clubs and the flying school. The design put its faith in wood and fabric, in fixed landing gear and in open cockpits in tandem, so the machine was cheap both to buy and to run. That is exactly why it became one of the types on which a whole generation of Czechoslovak pilots learned to fly. The little aircraft with its undemanding engine survived into postwar flying club service as well and to this day it remains one of the reminders of the prewar Zlin aviation program.
The set suits builders of small prewar machines, on which the glazing is tiny and cutting tape by hand is unpleasantly long-winded. In 1:72 scale accurate masking tells especially clearly, because against the size of the model every edge the paint has run over is conspicuous.
