This is an accessory for a model, not a model of an airplane: a canopy, that is the glazed cover of the pilot's compartment, for the OV-10 Bronco in the A and D versions in 1:72 scale from the Geronimo72Art brand. The Bronco belongs among the most extensively glazed machines of its category, so the cabin has an exceptional effect on the overall impression of a model. The material and the form of the part are given on the packaging of the set.
The OV-10 Bronco is a twin-engined turboprop aircraft with a twin-boom layout, designed for reconnaissance, forward air control and counterinsurgency work. The crew sit in tandem in a high-set cabin with glazing at the sides and under their feet as well, so as to have the best possible view of the ground. It served with the US Marine Corps, the US Air Force and the US Navy, and in Vietnam it proved itself as a control aircraft. The OV-10D version was a night reconnaissance conversion with an electro-optical turret in a lengthened nose and more powerful engines. A number of machines finished their service with firefighting and government agencies long after leaving the military.
The glazing is broken up, so count on longer masking of the frames and on the cabin being easy to see into once the build is complete: it is worth giving time to the interior, the seats and the instrument panels. Fit the cabin at the very end and protect the surfaces from dust and fingerprints.
