A masking set from the New Ware brand for a model of the Bell UH-1N helicopter and its Italian-built counterpart the AB-212 in 1:48 scale, in the form designated EXPERT. With that word the manufacturer tells the more extensive level of the set apart from the basic BASIC form within the range. The point is to keep the glazing clean and to give the color transitions a sharp edge.
The UH-1N Twin Huey is the twin-engine development step of the Huey family. A pair of turbines drives a common gearbox, which allowed the machines safe service over the sea and in high mountain terrain. The helicopter was used for transport, communications, training and the support of ground units. The Italian AB-212 differs from the land-based versions chiefly in the equipment of its naval form, where search and guidance equipment was added and the machine gained a different external silhouette. The long life of the type means that you will find very different equipment and finishes with the individual operators.
Lay the masking on a completely dry, degreased base; any remnants of sanding dust are the first thing paint gets under. Spray thin coats and let them go off in between, otherwise a ridge forms under the edge. Once finished, take the masking off while the paint is still fresh. For small overruns, have a sharp scalpel and a cotton swab moistened with a suitable thinner ready.
