The wheel is triple, so a single stroke makes three parallel and mutually offset rows of dimples, the pattern that arises on real sheet metal when the rivets are laid out in staggered rows. The spacing given in the name is 0.45 mm, a fine step close to the lower limit of the brand's range.
The 0.45 mm step suits mainly smaller scales and fine surfaces, where a coarser spacing would look exaggerated. Guide the wheel along a metal ruler or a flexible template, keep the pressure light and rather repeat two weaker strokes than one strong one. Before working on the model, try the stroke on an offcut of sprue: different plastics behave differently under the wheel. When you have finished, polish the surface gently so that the burrs raised around the dimples disappear.
The wheel is fine and sensitive to knocks, so work with care and store the tool apart from your other tools.
