A resin accessory in 1:200 scale for a model of the wide-body Lockheed L1011 airliner. The package holds replacement parts, not a kit: landing flaps in the extended position and engines of the RB211-22 series in their late form. The set is the counterpart of the version with the early engines, so before buying it is worth being clear about which series of the machine you want to build.
The Lockheed L1011, together with another American three-engine type, belonged to the first generation of wide-body airliners. It carried two engines under the wing and a third in the rear of the fuselage, fed by a curved duct under the root of the fin. The powerplants were supplied exclusively by the British maker Rolls-Royce, and the aircraft was known in its day for its advanced flight control system. Although fewer were built than of the competing type, it remained popular with operators and keeps a good name among collectors to this day.
Wash the parts in warm soapy water before painting because of the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces under water, so that no dust is raised. They are glued with super glue, and for the nacelles the gel version works well because it gives longer to line them up. Offer the flaps up dry before gluing and check the symmetry of both halves of the wing. The finished underwing then stands out especially well against the gloss finish of airline colors.
