The SEAL units were created in 1962 and Vietnam was their first large deployment. They operated mainly in the Mekong Delta and in the tangle of mangrove channels, from where they made short sorties from riverine boats. Their look matched that: non-standard equipment, camouflage patterns sewn outside the usual supply chain and weapons put together according to the particular task. For a modeler it is a markedly more varied subject than ordinary infantry, because every figure in this range looks different.
Vietnam subjects stand on dampness. Do not leave the uniform evenly clean, then: darken the lower areas as if they were soaked with water, and apply mud from the trouser legs upwards. Paint a tiger stripe camouflage pattern with a fine brush in layers from light to dark and let it break naturally over the folds. Tan the skin into a warmer tone and keep the metal of the weapons rather matte. Finally unify the figure with the base it will stand on.
