The decal set Ferrets In Cyprus 2 - Canadian UNFICYP Ferret Mk 1 And Mk 2 in 1:35 scale carries the markings of Canadian scout cars from the peacekeeping mission on Cyprus.
Responsibility details are not available.
This Star Decals decal set in 1:35 scale is aimed at the light British Ferret scout armored car in the Mk 1 and Mk 2 versions, as the Canadian contingent of the UNFICYP peacekeeping force operated it on Cyprus. It is an addition for finishing a model, not the vehicle itself.
The peacekeeping operation on Cyprus has been running since 1964 and Canada sent reconnaissance units to it for long years. The Ferret weighed around four tons, had all-wheel drive and a crew of two men; the Mk 1 version was without a turret, the Mk 2 carried a small rotating turret with a machine gun. Its low silhouette and good mobility made it a suitable machine for patrolling along the buffer zone. United Nations vehicles were given a light finish and conspicuous recognition markings, to which Canadian crews added regimental designations and registration numbers.
Polish the area under a decal with gloss varnish, so that the edge of the carrier film does not show as a matte shadow. Transfer large light designs in one go and hold them with a brush until they settle exactly in place. A softener will help on folding hinges and riveted strips. Then even the whole thing out with a satin varnish, and only after that apply dust and traces of service.
