The opening part of the SS-Panthers series in a small scale. Star Decals has conceived it as an addition for modelers who have a tank finished and want to place it with a particular formation. According to the name these are the Panthers of two formations, the Hohenstaufen and the Hitlerjugend.
Both of the divisions named received Panthers in the course of 1944 and committed them on the Western Front. The designation of the vehicles differed with them: besides national crosses and tactical numbers on the turret, the machines also carried the divisional emblem, usually on the front plate of the hull or at the rear. The numbers were painted with various techniques, from stencils to a hand-drawn outline, so two vehicles of the same unit could look quite different. This variety is interesting for a modeler precisely because it makes it possible to build several machines of one unit without any repetition.
In 1:72 scale every design is small, so work in a well lit place and with a sharp scalpel. Cut the drawing out tight, let it soak and transfer it onto the model with the tip of a damp brush. Press it down through absorbent paper, so that no water is held under it. Once the decal has dried, seal it with varnish and only after that apply dust and mud.
