The set from SX-Art contains holographic film parts shaped so that on a finished model they stand in for the glass of the vision blocks, the periscopes and the gunsights. It is prepared for the Hobby Boss kit, so the shapes match the layout of the optics on its parts. This is not a mask or a decal, but a visible detail that is seated on the model only at the very end of the work.
The real optics of a combat vehicle never appear in photographs as a flat dark patch. Depending on the angle of view and the light, a greenish, violet or amber reflection flickers in them, and it is exactly this restlessness that the eye reads as glass. Painted plastic cannot imitate it, because it reflects light evenly. A holographic layer changes shade as the angle changes, so the model comes alive when turned in a display case.
Leave the parts until the very end, after the varnish, the decals and the patina; otherwise the surface will fog or the film will get dirty. Work with tweezers with smooth jaws and do not touch the face side with your fingers. Clean up the seat for the part beforehand so that it sits flat. If you need help holding it, reach for a clear glue for windows, which leaves no haze as it dries.
