A dipping ink in a deep burgundy register, that is at the dark end of the red family. It is applied generously, runs into the recesses and engraved lines by itself and darkens the shadow there, while on the raised areas only a thin veil of color remains. The package holds 17 ml.
Burgundy is interesting in that on red bases it works not as a change of color but as an addition of depth. Over a bright red it pulls the shadows into darkness and only slightly mutes the rest of the area, so the red stops looking flat. Over a pink or magenta base it shifts the whole toward a graver, darker tone. Over a brown area it adds a red cast that suits leather, wood and fabrics. Over a gold or ocher color it creates a warm dark shadow. The lighter the base color, the more the shift of tone is visible; on dark bases the darkening of the shadows itself prevails.
