Scale production offers this part as a finished solution for those who do not want to thread the ignition leads wire by wire. The distributor cap for a six-cylinder engine comes with the leads already fitted and in a yellow rendition. You thus replace the kit's plastic part as a whole, rather than by gluing bits on step by step.

Fitting procedure

• Try out dry where the leads will run, and only then cut anything.
• Remove the original casting and level the seating surface with a file.
• Run the leads one after another, so that they do not cross otherwise than the real engine does.
• Paint and tone the engine bay only after the part is seated, not the other way round.

When to reach for yellow

Yellow is the most striking of the color variants of this line. On a dark engine block it stays readable even when seen from behind a half-open hood and it works well in a photograph, where a darker shade would blend into its surroundings. It is chosen by builders of circuit racing cars and modified cars, on which colored wiring belongs to the overall look. For a model in a civilian, subdued spirit it tends to be more suitable to reach for another variant of the same part.
