1:32 B5N2 Kate closed canopy - double-sided express mask is a double-sided Art Scale masking set for a model built with a closed canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
The name of the set distinguishes two things at once: it is cut for a model with a closed canopy and it is in a double-sided rendition. The combination makes sense in a large scale, where you can see inside even through a closed canopy and an unpainted inner frame would give the shortcut away when seen from above. Art Scale stands behind the set.
The Kate stayed in operational service even after more modern types replaced it in the front line. Toward the end of the war it served for patrols against submarines and some of the machines received a search radar. Its long glazed canopy, running across all three crew stations, is among the most conspicuous marks of the type and is also the reason why masking pays off so much on it.
Clean the inner side of the glazing carefully before masking and do not touch it with your fingers afterwards; grease from the skin shows up under the paint as a stain you will not get off again. Before you start spraying, go round the circumference of each piece and make sure that nothing is lifting anywhere. It also pays to spray one test coat in the interior color first: it will reveal any leaks before the top shade goes onto the model.
