A box from the line of small single-engine aircraft that Miniwing supplies in 1:144. It concentrates on Beavers operating on European soil and carries both American designations in its name, because the same type flew under both depending on which period you are looking at.
The Canadian Beaver was designed as a universal carrier of cargo and people over short distances that makes do with a meadow or a gravel surface. It has a strut-braced high wing, a sturdy fixed landing gear and a radial engine with a two-blade propeller at the front. Allied armies took to it for liaison flights between staffs, for moving officers and small items of material and for watching a training area. The L-20A designation was carried by the US Air Force and the Army until 1962, when the unification of the designation system brought the new name U-6A. The design did not change in the process; it was an administrative step.
A small model forgives little, so it is worth starting with a dry fit of the parts without glue and evening out any inaccuracies with sandpaper before the fuselage is joined. Prepare the thin struts in advance and glue them on only once the finish is complete. For European machines it works well to paint with an airbrush at low pressure, because crisp transitions would look oversized on such short surfaces. A matte varnish at the end will also settle any differences in gloss under the decals.
The box holds plastic parts without a finish; the assembly and the painting are up to the modeler.
