A cow at pasture is one of those accessories that give a diorama calm and at the same time say clearly where the scene is playing out. Firma49 lists this subject in several scales; this item is meant for 1:35, that is for the most common size of models of ground hardware and figures.
Military dioramas tend to have trouble with the fact that all the content of the scene comes from one world: the hardware, the equipment, the uniforms. The viewer then takes the display case in as a parade, not as a place. A farm animal breaks that impression immediately; the presence of cattle means that somebody farms here, that the war is passing through a landscape that has a life of its own. A cow moreover works as a reliable guide to size: everybody can picture how big it is, and from it reads off the dimensions of everything else in the scene.
Draw the patches on the coat only over a unified base and leave the boundary between them soft, as a crisp transition looks unnatural. A wet gloss suits only the muzzle and the eyes; leave the rest matte. Do not sink the legs into the grass literally, but press the grass around the hooves down instead and color it slightly, so that the animal really stands on the growth. Short blades around the mouth will suggest that it is grazing.
