A masking set for a model of the F-86D fighter aircraft in 1:32 scale. It makes spraying the glazing frames and other sharply bounded areas easier.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-86D was an American single-seat all-weather interceptor derived from the well-known Sabre. You can recognize it at first glance: in the nose it carries a large radar housing set above the air intake, and pilots therefore nicknamed it the Sabre Dog. Instead of gun armament it was given a retractable tray with unguided rockets, which made it quite a different machine from the day fighter version.
The masking parts are shaped for a model of the F-86D in 1:32 scale. In this scale every inaccuracy shows, so cutting the glazing frames by eye does not pay: ready-made masks hold the same width along the whole length of a frame and the transition of the paint comes out sharp. The extent of the areas masked is given in the manufacturer's instructions, because it differs between individual sets.
The masks are applied before spraying, onto a dry and degreased surface. Press the edges down thoroughly with a blunt tool, otherwise the paint will seep under. Spray in thin coats and take the mask off soon after the paint has dried, peeling it slowly and at a shallow angle.
The package holds the masking set only. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
