An accessory set in 1:35 for the British AEC Dorchester armored command vehicle. An accessory for a model of the vehicle, not a model on its own.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model of the vehicle on its own but an accessory set for a model of the British AEC Dorchester armored command vehicle. Accessories of this kind give a model life: the lived-in working clutter around a vehicle is exactly what turns a routine build into a convincing scene. The 1:35 scale is standard for models of ground vehicles.
The AEC Dorchester was a British Armoured Command Vehicle, that is a mobile command post on the chassis of the AEC Matador heavy truck with all-wheel drive. Inside the boxy armored body there was room for staff work: map surfaces, radio sets and a source of electricity. The vehicle let a commander run an operation from close to the battlefield, which was essential in the open North African desert. Two captured examples were kept by the Afrikakorps and used under the nicknames Max and Moritz, so the vehicle has a German chapter of service as well. Characteristic of it are the tall boxy silhouette and the large volume of interior space.
Clean the surface before painting. North African coats were light and heavily faded, and modulation over a sandy base works excellently on them. Paint the accessories away from the hull while they are easy to reach, and only then fit them. Dust in the recesses and on the horizontal surfaces, fine rubbing through on the edges and a dark wash into the gaps will give the whole thing depth. Shade the canvas and the textiles in a warmer tone than the metal.
