Decals 1:35 Afghan equipment is a set of markings for armored and special vehicles of Soviet origin in service in Afghanistan: the ZSU-23-4, MAZ 537, BRDM-2 and BTR-70.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of markings in 1:35 scale for vehicles that were used in Afghanistan and came from Soviet production: the ZSU-23-4 anti-aircraft system, the MAZ 537 heavy tractor, the BRDM-2 armored reconnaissance car including the version with anti-tank guided missiles, and the BTR-70 armored personnel carrier. The package holds the markings alone; a model is supplied separately.
It is a selection that shows well what an arsenal built on Soviet deliveries looked like. The ZSU-23-4 is a tracked system with a four-barreled 23 mm cannon and a radar, originally intended against aircraft; in mountainous terrain, though, it came in useful mainly for rapid fire up the slopes. The MAZ 537 is a heavy wheeled tractor for moving tanks and oversized loads over long routes. The BRDM-2 served as an amphibious reconnaissance car and in the missile version as a carrier of guided missiles, and the BTR-70 as an eight-wheeled infantry carrier.
On equipment deployed in a dry and dusty environment a finished model carries mainly one thing: dust. Under it the base green coat shifts toward gray, the markings tend to be faded and partly painted over, and the numerals were applied by hand. The set will therefore stand out most if you apply it onto a gloss base, seal it with a matte varnish and only then move on to the pigments; otherwise the dust will settle under a decal and the effect will be lost.
