Eduard 1:35 AH-64A Apache Early is a set of painting masks for the glazing of the cabin of the American attack helicopter in the early form.
Responsibility details are not available.
The glazing of an attack helicopter is put together from flat panes separated by thick frames, and it is exactly that which makes masking a drawn-out job. The cut shapes shorten this step to a few minutes and the edge of a frame comes out equally sharp all along, which a strip by hand can hardly guarantee.
The flat panes of the glazing are no accident on the Apache. A curved canopy would reflect the sun over a wide area and give the position of the machine away, whereas a flat pane returns a reflection only in a narrow direction. The cabin is therefore angular and the frame between the panes wide, and on the early machines moreover with different details than on the later versions.
First rid the glazing of fingerprints, carry the individual shapes over with tweezers and seat them exactly on the edge of a frame. Apply the paint in two passes in a thin coat; a heavy coat tears the edge away when removed. I would recommend spraying the shade of the interior first and only then the outer camouflage, so that the frame does not come across as alien from inside. Take the masks off while the paint is freshly tacky.
The set holds only the masking shapes. Neither a model of the helicopter nor paints are in the package.
Cover the remaining areas outside the cut shapes with tape or masking putty; the set deals only with the frame of the glazing. On a helicopter with such a large area of glass it also pays to close the inside of the cabin up, so that overspray does not settle inside.
